Breathe
to Reduce Stress
Stress affects kids too. A British study of
4,320 11- and 12-year-olds found that those
most stressed out by homework, overbooked
schedules, social fears, or family worries
were more likely to snack and skip breakfast,
and they ate fewer fruits and veggies. Teach
them how to stop, relax and breathe to calm
down using the Red Light, Green Light technique
or Breathe and Count. Click here for the lesson
plans.
Generate
Heart Power
Based on research from the HeartMath Institute,
www.HeartMath.org
teach children to cultivate positive emotions
and thoughts. When they get stressed or angry
teach them to stop for a moment and think
about something they appreciate or love. This
generates heart power which sends positive
energy to the entire body and mind. This transforms
their negative emotions, fear and stress into
positive emotions, love and calm. It’s
a simple technique and it works wonders. Click
here for the lesson plan.
